I didn't hear of anyone who went on the Berlin tour who enjoyed it. So again, research the city and determine what you want to see and either find a tour company to show you that or book a private tour. Maybe our fault for not booking a private tour but it seemed like the places we saw (other than the Holocaust Memorial (very nice), Brandenburg Gate and the Book Burning Memorial) I can't tell you what any of the 20 buildings she talked about were. So, while we saw Berlin and had a great lunch, we didn't see some of the items we would have liked to have seen. Instead we waited on the sidewalk in front of an indian restaurant and an art store. Our group was there about 20-30 minutes before the other group (they were a bit late) and it would have been nice if we would have been waiting by a small souvenir shop so we could pick something up while we waited. At the end of the tour we had to meet up with another bus and both groups traveled on one bus back to the port. I've heard the Checkpoint Charlie Museum is very interesting and would have liked to have gone there. We had to somewhat force the tour guide to stop at Checkpoint Charlie (I know, not the real one) and some of us jumped out for 2 min to take a photo from across the street. Also, there was no opportunity to pick up any souvenirs.not even a tshirt.

Some of the tour was walking which was nice to get out and walk but we'd go to something like the Topography of Terrors, and the guide talked for 10 minutes and then we had to get back on the bus, we didn't even get to walk around and read the displays (this is of a section of the Berlin wall). It felt like you were on a history lecture. But I know at least 10 of the people on the tour felt as we did, it was too much talking and not enough "seeing". Our tour guide, Carolina, was very enthusiastic, passionate and knowledgeable about Berlin. We got a rest stop both going into Berlin and coming back to the port.

Our bus driver was very nice (Olaf) and made sure we had bottled water. We actually heard the train ride was not nice at all. It was comfortable and as quick as the train ride. We arrived in Warnemunde on a cruise ship and took a 3 hr bus ride from the port to Berlin. They are very responsive and quick to provide the information you need. The experience working with SpB to arrange our tours was great. We signed up for 3 SpB tours (Berlin, St Petersburg, Stockholm) but I'll just comment on Berlin in this post. If I could do it again, I would not have made the trip in from Rostock to Berlin, it just doesn't do it justice. I think that the potential for this trip to be good is there just not with this guide. I dont ean tto be asked things liek "do you wna to stop at checkpoint charlie, its all hollywood and not real" Actually, that was ok as I listened in to a different tour company and learned more from them than I didn't the entire day with Eric. We had almost no time anywhere, less than 10 minutes at the topography of terror, this despite waiting at one time for 20 minutes for our bus, a very long expensive lunch break, and then ended the tour 40 minutes early and having to wait in a hot park. Great, but then 10 minutes later he said to us "wasn't there three Asian people in our group?".

Everywhere we went we had to ask him for more information, he lost 3 people in our group ( he had told us that as we were adults he didn't feel the need to count or speak loudly, if people wanted to hear, they could move closer).

We were with a guide named Eric who seemed like he would have rather been getting a root canal than give us a tour. After a long bus ride, more like 3.5 hours, we were greeted by our tour guide. I am also only commenting on the Berlin tour, as my experience with spb in st Petersburg could not have been more different.
